Vincent, une jeune baleine à bosse, est le fils orphelin du dernier Chanteur des Mers, dont le chant magique protégeait autrefois les océans. Lorsque la fonte des glaces permet au monstrueux Léviathan de s'échapper de l'iceberg qui le maintenait prisonnier, et menace ainsi l'extinction de toute vie marine avec son encre empoisonnée, Vincent doit trouver son propre chant pour l'arrêter. Submergé par le doute, il se lance plutôt dans un périlleux voyage vers les profondeurs des mers, avec l'ambition de ramener ses parents de la Fosse aux étoiles, espérant que son père pourra vaincre le Léviathan. Accompagné de son gardien Walter, un poisson rémora, et de sa nouvelle amie Darya, une courageuse orque sourde, Vincent devra affronter ses peurs et trouver sa voix pour sauver les océans.
